Former Arsenal skipper, Patrick Vieira, has revealed that the current Arsenal team must be considered as good as the Invincibles if they are able to win the UEFA Champions League for the club.
Arsenal in the semi-finals first leg lost 1-0 at the Emirates Stadium in London to French champions Paris Saint-Germain. The defeat has limited Arsenal’s chances of progressing to the finals of the competition for the first time since 2006, although all is not lost.
The 48-year-old Senegalese-born French international was the captain for Arsenal Wenger’s Invincibles in the 2003-04 season when they played an entire season in the EPL without tasting a single defeat.
Arsenal is the only team in the Premier League era in England to have gone the whole season without being beaten. Many football fans in England think the record will never be broken, hence making that team very respectable.

In an interview with The Telegraph Football, Vieira, the former manager of English Premier League side Crystal Palace and French side OGC Nice, discussed how the current group will be remembered like the 2003-04 season group.
“How many times have Arsenal won the Champions League?” Vieira asked. “Zero”, Vieira replied.
“Exactly. So this group of players would be remembered as much as the Invincibles [if they win the Champions League] because they would achieve something really quite special for the football club. For me, they would be as important and as big as the Invincibles.”
The current manager of Italian side Genoa understands how the feeling is when you achieve something fantastic for Arsenal.
Mikel Arteta’s side have failed to win the Premier League title since the 2003-04 season, where Vieira led them to their 13th, which surprisingly remains their last.
Arenal’s trip to Paris on Wednesday night will be a tight contest, looking at how prepared and ready they are for the fixture.
