Many football fans are already discussing the high crime rate in many cities across the USA and are looking worried ahead of the 2026 FIFA World Cup to be co-hosted by the USA, Canada, and Mexico across North America.
48 teams are to compete for the ultimate prize for the first time, hence security ought to be tight to avoid any kind of attack.
USA president Donald Trump has revealed that any city that will be deemed unfit in terms of security will not be allowed to host the competition.
“It will be safe for the World Cup,” Trump told reporters in the Oval Office. “If I think it isn’t safe, we’ll move it to a different city.”
He continued, “If any city we think is going to be even a little bit dangerous for the World Cup, or for the Olympics, but for the World Cup in particular, because they’re playing in so many cities, we won’t allow it to go. We’ll move it around a little bit”.
Cities that will host the 2026 FIFA World Cup in the USA
In all,11 cities in the USA will host the tournament.
New York, Dallas, Kansas City, Houston, Atlanta, Los Angeles, Seattle, San Francisco Bay, Philadelphia, Miami and Boston
The USA has already successfully hosted the maiden edition of the FIFA Club World Cup, where 32 teams from all corners of the world competed.
After the 2026 FIFA World Cup, the USA in Los Angeles will welcome the world once again for the Olympic Games.
The 23rd edition of the World Cup is scheduled to take place between June 11 and July 19.
The US will host 78 of the 104 fixtures, including the final.
