Arsenal’s 1-1 draw at Brighton & Hove Albion on Saturday’s late kick-off has dented their title aspirations as they now sit 6 points behind leaders Liverpool with the Reds having two games in hand. If Liverpool wins the two games, they will open an 11-point gap against the Gunners.

After the game at the AMEX Stadium, Arsenal’s midfielder cum right back Thomas Partey expressed his unhappiness and frustrations with the points dropped.

“We are sad and frustrated; everybody is down, but that’s part of football. We wanted to win; we wanted to keep the momentum going, and at the end of the day, we didn’t get it. But it’s also a positive one because we did not lose. We have to try our best and win these games because they’re the most important ones, but it’s not an easy game against a good side, and to win here you have to be perfect. We need to forget about today and keep on working hard to win our next game.”

Thomas Partey started as right back instead of his normal midfield role where he always makes things smooth and thick for Arsenal. A midfield trio of Declan Rice, Mikel Merino and Jorginho was selected with many Arsenal fans criticizing Arteta for putting Partey in the right-back position against a team that has a very young, energetic and strong midfield of Baleba, Ayari and O’Reily.

The Ghanaian midfielder however revealed that he is also comfortable playing as right back and will definitely play at anywhere manager Mikel Arteta orders him to play because he is a professional footballer.

“I’m a professional player and I’ll play everywhere to help the team. I’m available to play in any position; I’ll do my best and also give my best all the time. If I can do much better and improve, I can be happy. It’s moments that the team needs me, and I have to be there, and I’m really happy to help the team all the time.”

Thomas Partey is a very versatile player who can play across all the central midfield roles, he can also play as a right back or right centre back so having him in your team gives you a great servant.
