Ghana will square off against Cad in Morocco and host Mali in Accra in rounds seven and eight of the 2026 World Cup qualifiers.

The Black Stars hit top gear in rounds five and six when they smashed Chad and Madagascar into pieces, where they won a combined 8-0 on aggregate.

The wins propelled Otto Addo’s charge to the summit of Group I, where they are currently leading second-placed Comoros by three points and the much-fancied Mali by six points.

The wins in rounds five and six convinced the former skipper of Ghana, John Mensah, who thinks the team will seal a spot in the USA-Canada-Mexico 2026 if they can repeat the performances in the upcoming international break.“If they play like the way they played the last two games, I believe they can qualify”, John Mensah told Citi Sports.

“They are playing well now, and they know each other very well. I believe if they keep on like that, they can qualify.

“This is a team they are maintaining for them to stay in the national team. And I believe if they keep them well and make a few changes, I think they can be together and work to achieve a trophy for the nation,” he confidently said.

It has been over four decades now since Ghana won a major trophy at the senior level, having lost many finals, with the last one coming in 2015 against the Ivory Coast.

John Mensah is very much sure that if the playing body can be maintained for a longer period, they can take Ghana to the promised land.

Ghana did not qualify for the 2025 AFCON to be played in Morocco across 2025 and 2026 later this year, but they bounced back from the disappointments in the qualifiers ae have every chance to qualify for the Fifth FIFA World Cup since 2006.
