The former Mainz, Dortmund and Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp has announced his decision to quit coaching.

After 25 years in the business, the 58-year-old German tactician believes he has spent too much time in football and needs a rest.

“Forever…goodbye to the coaching profession!, Klopp wrote

“I will enjoy the personal freedom that I have not enjoyed for 25 years. Thank you for your understanding“, he added.

Klopp, from 2001 to  2008, spent seven years at Mainz 05 before joining Borussia Dortmund in 2008. He spent another seven years before leaving in 2015.

Jürgen Klopp joined English side Liverpool in 2015 and left in 2024. After an incredible nine years at Liverpool, the German won eight titles, including a first Premier League title in over three decades for Liverpool. He also won a UCL title and the English FA Cup, among many other trophies.

Klopp remains the last manager to have won the Bundesliga for Dortmund after winning it back-to-back in the 2010-11 and 2011-12 seasons.

Many football fans would have wanted to see Klopp again in football management due to the success he enjoyed as a head coach.
