Italian club Atalanta has confirmed the signing of Ghanaian winger Kamaldeen Sulemana. The 23-year-old Ghanaian forward joined the Bergamo-based club in a deal worth around £18.3m.

The agreement is made up of a £15m (€17.5m) initial payment and a further £3.3m (€4m) in add-ons. Saints have also secured a 15 per cent sell-on clause, per Sky Sports.

Kamaldeen joined Southampton in January 2023 from French side Rennes, where he showed many glimpses. His stint in England was marred by incessant injuries, forcing the club to finally part ways with him.

The former Right to Dream Academy graduate chose Atalanta because of the relationship that exists between him and Croatian coach Ivan Juric, who managed him at Southampton in the 2024-25 season.

The Ghanaian forward expects to join Atlanta’s already rich attack, which boasts of Nigerian forward Ademola Lookman and Italian striker Mateo Retegui.

The club already has midfielder Ibrahim Sulemana, making Kamaldeen the second Ghanaian in the club.

Atalanta finished 3rd in the just-past season in the Serie A, helping them win a ticket to the 2025-26 UCL.
