Asante Kotoko’s draw against Berekum Chelsea was extremely shocking and hard to accept. Heading into the game, Asante Kotoko had smashed Bechem United 6-0 in Kumasi before losing 2-1 at Sweduru against All Blacks.

The Porcupine Warriors were determined to return to winning ways, especially at the Baba Yara Stadium against Berekum Chelsea, who had lost all five away games before the Kumasi trip.

The game ended goalless, much to the disappointment of Asante Kotoko’s family.

Head coach Karim Zito expressed his disappointment in the results and revealed how difficult it is for him to accept it.

“With all seriousness and honesty, I don’t buy (accept) this result, but this won’t stop me from fighting for the league title,” Zito said.

“We have 16 matches remaining, and I think we have to go back to work and make sure we win our away games to make amends,” he added.

After week 18, there are 16 more matches to be played, and Zito stressed the need for his team to start winning away from home to stand any chance of fighting for the league.

The goalless draw sent Asante Kotoko to 4th position on the log with a whopping six points behind the leaders, Medeama SC.

The Porcupine Warriors will face Gold Stars in their next three games, starting with a visit to Bibiani, followed by a home game against Holy Stars, and concluding with a trip to Kpando to face Heart of Lions before the two-week break.
