Former Finance Minister of Ghana, Kenneth Ofori-Atta, is now a wanted man after OSP and EOCO ordered Interpol to add him to their red list.
The OSP has for almost two months messaged him to return to Ghana for investigations, which include embezzlement of public funds, corruption and fraud during his reign at the helm of Ghana’s finance Ministry.
When the OSP last week informed Interpol that they should help bring Ofori-Atta to Ghana, his doctors immediately told Ghanaians that he is sick and about to undergo surgery for cancer at the Mayo Clinic in the USA. His family has denied that he is hiding from the OSP but rather seeking medical attention.
“This is not just abuse of power. This is a public lynching,”. Ofori-Atta’s family think that the current government are just abusing its power by demanding his arrest by the Interpol, even at a time that he is fighting cancer.
“He’s not escaping justice. He’s scheduled for surgery on June 13. That’s not a crime.”
Ofori-Attah’s family denied the allegation that he is running away from justice, but rather has a few days to undergo surgery.
“Even INTERPOL is being misled. We’ve petitioned them to delete the Red Notice immediately, added the family.
“We want Ken to offer to do a video interview because he physically couldn’t appear in person. Instead of respecting that, the OSP spun a narrative,” the family statement said.
The former Finance Minister is immediately wanted by the OSP, but his family thinks that he is not ready now to face them.
