Outspoken politician and businessman, Kennedy Ohene Agyapong, has once again reignited his long-standing campaign against what he describes as “fake men of God” who exploit the fears and ignorance of innocent Ghanaians for personal enrichment.

Speaking during a Sunday service hosted by Archbishop Charles Agyinasare on November 2, 2025, the former Member of Parliament for Assin Central and New Patriotic Party (NPP) flagbearer hopeful cautioned Christians to be wary of self-styled prophets who perform rituals such as instructing followers to sprinkle salt around their homes.

According to Kennedy Agyapong, such acts are clear signs of deception, as no genuine servant of God would rely on fear tactics or superstition to demonstrate divine power.

“Three days ago, I went to my office around midnight and saw salt all over the place. When I asked what was going on, they said a pastor came and told them to sprinkle salt for protection. I told them that any pastor who gives such instruction is fake. These so-called pastors use fear to extort money from their congregations,” he recounted.

Kennedy Agyapong, known for his bluntness and relentless criticism of religious hypocrisy, praised Archbishop Agyinasare for standing by him when he began exposing corrupt pastors several years ago.

“I like Agyinasare because when I started exposing the fake pastors, he was the only Archbishop who publicly said I was doing the right thing. Those fake pastors make it difficult for genuine ones to do their work,” he added.

This recent statement is consistent with Agyapong’s past confrontations with controversial church leaders, notably Bishop Daniel Obinim of the International God’s Way Church.

In 2020, he accused Obinim of defrauding followers under the guise of prophecy and miracles, claiming his mission was to protect vulnerable citizens from religious exploitation.

That campaign led to Bishop Obinim’s arrest and prosecution for alleged publication of false news and forgery, an episode that deepened Agyapong’s reputation as an anti-corruption crusader within the religious space.

Addressing the congregation on Sunday, Kennedy Agyapong further urged collaboration between the church and political leadership to restore the moral and economic foundation.

He admitted that repeated failures by politicians had eroded public trust in government, creating space for fake pastors to manipulate the desperate and jobless.

“The people no longer believe us politicians because we have lied too many times. But when men of God speak, the people listen. That is why the church must boldly guide the nation on who should lead,” he said.

He also encouraged churches to channel their financial resources into job creation and industrial investment rather than purely spiritual activities.

“The church makes money, but it should also create industries. When members are employed, they will gladly give back to the church,” he emphasized.
