Kennedy Agyapong has urged New Patriotic Party (NPP) delegates to choose bold and fearless leadership ahead of the party’s presidential primaries in early 2026, declaring he would never concede defeat in any national election until the Electoral Commission officially announces results.

During his campaign tour of the Savannah Region, the outspoken former Assin Central MP emphasised the need for courageous leadership to confront the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) in the 2028 general elections.

He told party supporters that Ghana’s political terrain demands a leader who will not back down prematurely, stating that early concession of defeat could jeopardise the party’s chances and demoralise its base, as it happened in the 2024 General Elections when Alhaji Bawumia accepted defeat to John Mahama even when the Electoral Commission had not finished announcing the results.

Agyapong stated unequivocally that if elected as the NPP’s presidential candidate, he would only accept defeat after the last vote is counted and the Electoral Commission (EC) officially declares the results.

“Until the last constituency is counted, if I am a presidential candidate, I will never accept defeat,” Ken said.

He further appealed to delegates to prioritise bravery and resilience in their choice of flagbearer, arguing that the party risks returning to opposition if it fails to elect a leader who can stand firm under pressure.

“We need bold men who can face the NDC head-on,” Agyapong declared. His message has resonated with sections of the party’s grassroots, who view his stance as a symbol of strength and unwavering commitment to the NPP’s future.

Kennedy Agyapong will contest with Mahamudu Bawumia, Bryan Acheampong, Yaw Adutwum and Kwabena Adjei Agyapong for the hot NPP flagbearer role.
