Asante Kotoko’s season opener against the returning Heart of Lions concluded in a goalless draw at the Baba Yara Stadium on Sunday evening.

The early stages of the game were evenly matched, with most of the action taking place in the midfield.

Asante Kotoko’s goalkeeper, Fredrick Asare, was called into action in the 29th minute to make a crucial save and deny Heart of Lions a scoring opportunity.

As halftime approached, the Porcupine Warriors increased the pressure on Heart of Lions. In the 43rd minute, Tedeku attempted a long-range shot that missed the target.

At the end of the first half, both teams headed to the dressing room with the score still level at 0-0.

Goalkeeper Asare continued to be a solid presence for Asante Kotoko, making another crucial save in the 55th minute to keep the visitors from taking the lead.

In the 57th minute, Coach Prosper Ogum made a personnel change, bringing in Ouattara to replace Somuah.

As the match progressed, Asare remained a formidable obstacle for Heart of Lions’ attackers, making an impressive flying save in the 64th minute.

Both teams made further changes to their starting lineups, but neither side managed to break the deadlock.

In their next matches, Asante Kotoko will travel to Bibiani to face Gold Stars, while Heart of Lions will take on Great Olympics.
