Asante Kotoko has officially made a move to sign Medeama SC’s creative midfielder, Godfred Abban, during the ongoing transfer window.
The 23-year-old midfielder has attracted the attention of the Porcupine Warriors with his impressive performances, making him a prime target as the club looks to strengthen its squad for the upcoming season.
Abban, who previously spent time on loan at Tamale City from Medeama, has become a key focus for Asante Kotoko’s head coach, Dr. Prosper Narteh Ogum.
The interest in Abban follows the club’s unsuccessful bid to sign Rwandan international Patrick Sibomana.
Abban’s solid performance last season, where he recorded two goals and five assists in 19 matches for the Mauves and Yellows, has increased his value on the transfer market.
However, it remains uncertain whether Medeama SC will be willing to part with the midfielder, especially with just eight months left on his current contract.
Abban initially joined Medeama from Asokwa Deportivo ahead of the 2020-2021 Ghana football season and has since established himself as an important player for the club.
Asante Kotoko’s interest in him highlights their intent to build a stronger squad for the challenges ahead.
