Former Tottenham manager Glenn Hoddle was impressed with Mohammed Kudus’ performance against PSG on Wednesday night in Udine in the UEFA Super Cup.

The English club lost on penalties after a 2-2 draw in regular time against the European champions, who were down by 2-0 after 48 minutes to Van De Ven and Romero’s goals.

Mohammed Kudus was positioned right behind Tottenham’s sole striker, Richarlison, where the 25-year-old Ghanaian caught the attention of football fans with his incredible display.

The Ghanaian’s ball retention, balance and agility made him a threat where PSG’s left back Nuno Mendes struggled to deal with all night.

He was replaced by Mathys Tel in the 79th minute. Tottenham lost the plot from there as PSG, through Kan-In Lee and Goncalo Ramos’ strikes, levelled things for Luis Enrique’s charges late in the game.

After the game, Glenn Hoddle on TNT Sports was full of praise for Kudus, “He’s got such good talent, such quick feet, and you can see his qualities there. The added ingredient for him as a player is consistency.

“A lot of my West Ham fans, and I have quite a lot, have said to me, “Thank you for taking him, Glenn.” So I don’t know about that. The first year, I thought he was excellent. The second year, they’re telling me he didn’t do so well. But he looks like he’s got a lot of potential, I’ve got to say.

“Sometimes, I look at dribblers and I like what they do, but can they dribble and play with their head up? That is the key for me. Can he also play with his head up? That’s the next progression for him. And I think if he does, he could be a real asset for Tottenham”, Hoddle said.

Kudus secured a 55 million pounds move from London club West Ham United in the current transfer window to Tottenham after two good years at the London Stadium.

He is due to help the club improve upon their unbelievable 16th position in the 2024-25 season.

Tottenham Hotspur will welcome newly promoted side Burnley to the Tottenham Stadium in their opening game of the season on Saturday.
