New faces were added to the technical team of the Black Stars on Tuesday night, and German-Moroccan coach Joseph Lauman was relieved of his duties.
The Ghana Football Association announced that 2002 AFCON-winning coach Winfried Schafer was appointed the new Black Stars technical advisor.
Black Satellites coach Desmond Offei replaced Lauman and will be the assistant head coach alongside John Paintsil who retained his position to Otto Addo.
A Belgian psychologist Kris Perquy was added to the the technical staff.
The changes are expected to take the Black Stars to a new level after a poor campaign in the 2025 AFCON qualifiers.
The president of the Ghana Football Association has urged Ghanaians to solidly support the senior national after the team’s massive addition of technical brains.
“With the announcement of both the management committee of the Black Stars and a revamped technical team, it’s now our time to be truly Ghanaian and get behind our team once again,” Okraku urged in a statement.
“Ghana, our beloved country, has gone through this challenging period before, but by sticking together, we always came out stronger. In humility, determination, and oneness, we have and will bring smiles back to our people with your support.”
“Our players need you!! Our players need us… It is time!!!!” Okraku added.
The team will return to action in March with a fixture against Chad and Madagascar in the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers.
