Ghana’s first president and Pan-Africanist, Osagyefo D.R. Kwame Nkrumah, has been ranked the 13th most influential black man ever by Global Statistics. Kwame Nkrumah led the fight for independence from the British in the 1950s and eventually got it in 1957.

The list includes people of African, Afro-Caribbean, Afro-American, Afro-Latin and other African descendants across the globe.

Historically, black people have played key roles in the development of the world in education, politics, sports, Entertainment, and other important sectors.

Sitting on top of the list was the ninth Mansa of the Mali Empire, under whose leadership the empire reached its peak.

Nelson Mandela sits second after playing a key role in ending the Apartheid Rule, during which blacks were sidelined in every corner of South Africa.

Three-time world champion Pelé of Brazil is included in the list.

Maya Angelou, Wole Soyinka and Chinua Achebe are all writers who have made a lasting impact in education.

In entertainment, the list includes American powerful musicians Michael Jackson and Beyoncé.
