Spain international Marc Cucurella has compared the two most-watched and popular football leagues in the world.

The English Premier League and Spanish La Liga have always fought for the position of the best league in the world for the last two decades, and it looks clear now that the Premier League have the upper hand currently.

When the Chelsea left back was asked by Spanish media AS Marca about which of the two is the best now, he said, “I think the distribution of money in England is greater”.

Cucurella used newly promoted side Sunderland as an example for the reason why the EPL is on top of La Liga.

“For example, the teams that are promoted get a lot of money, and in the end, that means all teams can sign great players, and that evens out the league. That’s why every game in the Premier League is a battle.
Sunderland, who just got promoted, has invested €200m in players, and Crystal Palace has signed two of La Liga’s best players, like Yeremy and Uche”, he said.

The Black Cats, in their bid to remain in the English top-flight, attacked the transfer window and signed many experienced and young players with a budget of nearly 200 million pounds.

Cucurella urged La Liga to make sure that there will be a proper cash flow in the system to help them compete with the Premier League

That’s something they should fix, because La Liga is falling a little further behind the Premier League, and that’s driving players to England to play.”

Marc Cucurella has played in LaLiga and the Premier League and knows exactly what separates the two.
