Ghana not qualifying for the 2025 AFCON is still shocking to many football pundits across the continent and the world in toto.

The football world still doesn’t understand why, with all the stars at Otto Addo’s disposal, will fail to beat any of Angola, Sudan and Niger.

On Supersport’s Soccer Africa, veteran African football journalist Mamudou Gaye expressed his opinion on Ghana’s decline.

“Ghana should not cry for not qualifying for AFCON 2025. We don’t need to discuss why Ghana didn’t qualify but rather when is Ghana winning AFCON again,” the Ivorian experienced journalist said.

The last time Ghana won the AFCON was way back in 1982 when Libya hosted the competition.

Ghana defeated the host 7-6 on penalties after a 1-1 draw in 120 minutes under the guidance of CK Gyamfi.

It is 42 years now, and it will be 45 years in 2027 if Ghana can qualify for the 37th edition to be hosted by Kenya-Tanzania-Uganda.

When is Ghana winning the AFCON once again? Egypt (7) and Cameroon (5) have surpassed the West African giants in terms of titles. Rivals Nigeria (3) and Ivory Coast (3) are just one title each before equaling Ghana’s four titles.
