It appears New Patriotic Party (NPP) delegates in the Mampong Constituency have settled on its former Youth Organizer, Mr. Dennis Kwakwa to lead the party as a parliamentary candidate in the crucial December 7 polls, this year.
The NPP has set January 27, 2024, to elect parliamentary candidates for the 2024 general elections in areas where the party already has sitting Members of Parliament (MPs).
But the signal is clear on the wall for the one-time Constituency Youth Organizer, immediate past Regional Youth Organizer, and Ashanti Regional Communications Officer of the party to win the pending primaries against the incumbent MP.
According to the delegates, in the likely event that Mr. Dennis Kwakwa becomes a parliamentary candidate for the party, NPP is likely to increase votes both at the parliamentary and presidential levels.
Mr. Dennis Kwakwa is tipped by many political pundits, party executives, foot soldiers and even leading members of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) to beat the incumbent lawmaker, Hon. Kwabena Ampratwum.
“He is the fearful person because if he becomes our candidate today, most of the NDC guys will cross the carpet to NPP. And we all hope that NPP delegates will see the light in him and vote for him”, according to some delegates.
