A 22-year-old Ghanaian male residing with his parents in Gorton, Manchester in the UK has allegedly stabbed his 43-year-old mother to death in a knife attack.

The suspect also stabbed his 63-year-old father who is a pastor and his younger sister, 17. His father and younger sister are fighting for their lives in the hospital.

The incident is reported to have occurred around 11 pm on the night of Sunday, August 18.

According to reports by the Daily Mail in the UK, police have identified the deceased as Alberta Obinim, mother of four and has been pictured after police and paramedics swarmed the residential road in Gorton where the incident occurred.

Authorities say she died from her injuries. Daily Mail reports that the suspect has been arrested on suspicion of murder and remains in custody.

In a viral video on X, a member of the Blessed Baptist Temple church in Greater Manchester said the victim belonged to Manchester’s Ghanaian community and was also a church member.

Members of Manchester’s Ghanaian community visited the family home of the victims to sympathise with them.
