Manchester United ended their Europa League group phase campaign on a brighter note after a 2-0 win in Romania against FSCB, formerly known as FC Steaua București with Diogo Dalot and Kobbie Mainoo scoring the goals for the Red Devils.
After the 2-0 success, club head coach Ruben Amorim was excited and revealed that Manchester United must fight for all trophies.
“I think we can go game by game and we can win it,” he replied when asked if United had played well enough to be considered one of the favourites to win the final in Bilbao in May.
“Then you have the responsibility, no matter the context, you are in Manchester United, so you must fight to win trophies. So we will see.
“When you get to this stage of any competition, anything is possible and they can prove, on a good day, they can win against anybody. So we can think about that [winning the competition],” Amorim added.
Manchester United’s potential opponents in the last 16 already could be one of AZ Alkmaar, Midtjylland, Real Sociedad or Galatasaray which will be a huge test.
The victory was Man U’s third successive win, with things looking a bit good for the beleaguered club currently. The club finished third in the 36-club league format with just a point behind league winners SS Lazio.
Manchester United return to action in the English Premier League on Sunday at home against Crystal Palace.
