A 30-year-old man has received a 25-year prison sentence with hard labour from the Bekwai Circuit Court for his involvement in a robbery at a mining site in Manso Akwasiso, which occurred in 2022, located in the Ashanti South Region.
Dominic Ofori, also referred to as Fanta, was apprehended on February 16, 2026, after evading capture for several years.
He admitted his guilt to the Bekwai Circuit Court for robbery, in violation of Section 149 of the Criminal Offences Act, 1960 Act 29, and was sentenced to 25 years in prison with hard labour.

The police team monitoring the area intervened, leading to a gunfire exchange.
Three of the suspects, Abu Abubakar, Musah Latif, and Gideon Takyi, suffered gunshot wounds and were declared dead upon arrival at St.
Martin’s Catholic Hospital at Agroyesum. Dominic was rearrested and put before law court after escaping.
