The name on every Asante Kotoko fan’s lips is Kwame Poku. Kwame Poku has been the man for the Porcupine Warriors since joining the club in the December-January transfer window as a free agent.
Kwame Poku has exceeded expectations after scoring four goals in four games for Asante Kotoko in all competitions.
After leaving Moroccan side Olympique Khouribga, the striker had juicy offers on the table but decided to return to Asante Kotoko where he played for in the 2020-21 season. The talented striker became an instant hero in Oseikrom after scoring 6 goals in 16 matches before leaving for Algeria.
In an interview on Asempa FM, Kwame Poku Bayie disclosed that Medeama offered him three times what he is earning now at Kotoko but refused and joined Fabulous.
“Medeama SC president, Moses Armah offered me a three-time better deal than what Asante Kotoko offered me but I declined and decided to join Kotoko, Kwame revealed.
“Kotoko is the club that I have always wanted to play for so I decided to make a return,” he added.
Kwame Poku has hit the ground running and Kotoko is yet to miss star striker Albert Amoah who is injured. The fans expect Kwame Poku Bayie to continue his fine form to help them challenge for the league title and return to Africa.
Kotoko’s darling boy scored his 4th goal in the Ghana Premier League in just three games in week 17 when Asante Kotoko pulverized Vision FC 4-1.
The 25-year-old is surprisingly 5 goals behind the leading goals scorer Faisal Charwetey of Nations FC with many fans expecting Bayie to challenge for the Golden Boot although he recently joined the Porcupine Warriors.
