You don’t need a soothsayer to tell you how naive and ignorant Ghanians are when it comes to the use of Social Media.
Cyber bullying has become so common among Ghanaian internet users to the extent that everyone in the country could be roasted on the internet on any day.
Millions of Ghanaians on Facebook, X, Instagram, Telegram, Snapchat and TikTok especially just use abusive words on anyone whose issue will pop up.
Nana Akua, a.k.a Mzbel in an interview on Accra FM shared her thoughts on cyberbullying. The 44-year-old a disclosed that she once sued some journalists but people didn’t know.
“I have sued media people before and taken a couple of people on, but it was not made public. They have learned their lessons and have repented. One is a journalist, and the rest are bloggers,” Mzbel revealed.
“I feel like a lot of people are taking advantage of social media to do wrong things. We are abusing social media. Irrespective of the calibre of people, netizens will find a way to disrespect someone…Social media has become like a weapon,” she added.
Social Media indeed is now a weapon to many as they just slay people there without considering their status.
Social Media needs massive regulations and education else it can cause a huge havoc among Ghanaians.
