Mohammed Polo knows it all when it comes to Ghana’s domestic league. He shined during his playing days with Accra Hearts of Oak and Accra Great Olympics.

Polo earned the nickname the “Dribbling Magician” due to his ability to easily dribble past any opponent.

On AP TV during the AP Sports Extra, the former Black Stars winger lamented the lack of many players from the Ghana Premier League in the Black Stars.

“There’s a problem in our league since no player gets the opportunity to play for the Black Stars.

“It’s a huge problem, we need at least a slot in the Black Stars for local players.

“We won 4 AFCONs with local players so we should find a way to give them the chance to improve our league,” concluded Polo.

Asante Kotoko’s Frederick Asare is the only player who got a call-up to the Black Stars to face Mali and the Central African Republic.

Mohammed Polo talked about the need to develop the local coaches in Ghana to help improve the players. “We have to develop local coaches,” said Polo.

It has almost been accepted that the domestic players are not good enough as every coach in recent years rejects the local players for Ghanaian footballers overseas.
