Moroccan club Wydad Casablanca has announced former Ajax Amsterdam, Chelsea and Galatasaray forward Hakim Ziyech as a new signing.

Ziyech, 32, became a free agent after leaving Qatari side Al Duhail on 30th March 2025 after he mutually agreed to terminate it.

The forward who was part of Ajax Amsterdam’s team reached that the semi-finals of the 2018-19 UEFA Champions League season where they reached the semi-finals.

He earned a move to English club Chelsea, where he became part of Thomas Tuchel’s side that won the UCL in 2021.

A move to the Turkish side followed before a short stint in Qatar.

Hakim Ziyech, due to a lack of playing time, has lost his place in the Moroccan national team and will take this huge opportunity to impress Walid Regragui, the head coach of the Moroccan national team.

The former Heerenveen and Twente forward made his debut for the Moroccan national team in 2015 and has represented the Atlas Lions in the last two World Cups.

Hakim was part of the Moroccan squads that competed in the 2018 and 2022 World Cups in Russia and Qatar, respectively, for the Atlas Lions.

Wydad Casablanca promised their fans, Moroccan football, the African continent and the world a big announcement on Tuesday evening.

The announcement was finally made on Wednesday afternoon, and it was about the signing of Hakim Ziyech.

The Dutch-born has won Eredivisie, UEFA Champions League, UEFA Super Cup, FIFA Club World Cup, English FA Cup and Turkish Super Lig, among other major European trophies.
