Saturday, 26 July 202,5 is a day that Ghana will never forget, as the legendary Daddy Lumba passed away. His demise was circulating on social media platforms, but the entire nation was waiting for his family to officially confirm it.
Around 1 pm, the family lawyer of the Fosus confirmed his death. The news was very devastating because Ghana has lost their greatest highlife artist.
Former president Nana Akufo-Addo, who Lumba recorded hit songs to support his presidential ambitions, expressed his sadness upon hearing of his demise.
“With regret, I have received the sad news of the passing of my dear friend and renowned music icon, Charles Kwadwo Fosu.
“Daddy Lumba, as we affectionately call him, was a pantheon among musical greats of all time and had a special connection with his fans and the entire nation.
“His hit-making songs will remain lasting contributions to my presidential journey and will forever be etched in the annals of the political campaign of the New Patriotic Party. He will be sorely missed.
“May he peacefully rest in the Bosom of the Almighty until the Last Day of the Resurrection, when we shall all meet again”, Akufo-Addo wrote on his Facebook wall.
Daddy Lumba died at age 60 after battling a short illness. The singer and songwriter recorded over 30 albums in almost 40 years as a top-notch musician.
