Ghana’s Minister for Sports and Recreation, Kofi Adams’ words suggest he means business. The newly appointed Sports and Recreation Minister is ready to help Ghana return to its old self in terms of sports.

In an interview on Joy Sports, Kofi Adams revealed that the National Democratic Congress (NDC) government led by His Excellency John Dramani Mahama is ready to have a national sports fund where money will be saved there for sports development.

“The NDC administration led by John Mahama is committed to establishing a national sports fund,” Kofi Adams said.

“Revenue from sports betting, the national lottery, corporate sponsorship and tourism levies will be channelled directly into sports development.

“In addition, we are working to expand broadcasting rights for local leagues, encouraging partnership with digital platforms to encourage monetising Ghanaian sports content,” the sports minister concerned.

Ghana’s biggest problem in sports is funding. Apart from the Black Stars, there’s no sporting institution that gets huge financial backing from the government, so the decision to have a sporting fund for the nation is refreshing.
