Arsenal’s set piece coach, Nicolas Jover (43), was seen on the touchline gassing up Declan Rice to cross the ball for someone to connect.
Rice was in a huge dilemma as to who to listen to, especially when his mate Saka was urging him to bend it around the wall.
The former West Ham man listened to Saka’s advice and bent the ball twice around the wall to put Arsenal in a 2-0 lead.
The free kicks were sumptuous and words cannot explain the accuracy and the pace of the two free kicks.
“We were planning on crossing the ball, but I spoke to Bukayo, and he said to me if you’re feeling it, take it. I saw the wall and the keeper and it didn’t make sense to cross it,” Rice revealed.
“Nicolas Jover kept telling me to cross it but Bukayo told me to take it. I took control and I told B I’m going to hit this,” Declan added.
Mikel Merino scored the third after receiving a great assist from teenager Lewis-Skelly on the edge of the box to round up an unbelievable night for the Gunners.
Real Madrid will need to play beyond their normal self at the Santiago Bernabeu in Madrid in the second leg before they can turn around the 3-0 defeat.
