After a short halt in petrol sales using Nigeria’s local currency, Dangote Petroleum, the largest refinery in Africa, has restarted selling petrol in Naira.
This follows the efforts of the Naira for Crude Technical Committee, which aims to decrease reliance on foreign currency, enhance the local value of the Naira, and bolster Nigeria’s oil refining capacity.
In a communication to oil marketers, the refinery announced that customers can now place orders in Naira for both self-pickup and free delivery of PMS to previously designated locations nationwide.
Nigerians expressed excitement over the news that Dangote Petroleum has started selling petrol to them.
Petrol was in short supply in some parts of Nigeria recently.
The Dangote refinery started providing petrol to the local market earlier this year but has encountered difficulties in obtaining crude oil due to wider issues in Nigeria’s oil production.
