Swedish striker Alexander Isak has informed Newcastle United that he would like to explore a new challenge, which has prompted clubs to chase the bona fide forward.

Liverpool’s £120 million bid earlier in the transfer window was quickly rejected by Newcastle because they see the striker to be worth around £150 million.

Isak is not part of the Magpies’ Asian tour, with the forward expecting a move to Liverpool soon.

Newcastle United’s manager Eddie Howe has confirmed that np club has tabled an offer to sign Isak.

“He is still our player,” Howe revealed.

“He’s contracted to us. We, to a degree, control what is next for him.

“I would love to believe all possibilities are still available to us,” Howe continued.

“My wish is that he stays, but that’s not in my full control.”

“We have not received a formal offer for Alex from any club. My wish is that he stays and we see him playing again next year”, he added.

Everything is pointing to the fact that the Magpies are ready for life without their best player.

Newcastle United have targeted Brentford’s Congolese forward and RB Leipzig’s Slovenian forward Benjamin Sesko as a possible replacement for Alex Isak.

Liverpool is preparing a British record deal of £150 million for the signature of Isak, with the club willing to offer him a £300,000 weekly wage.
