“No football club can control security at the stadium but the football Association can,” former Ghana Football Association vice president George Afriyie said on ASEMPA FM’s Ultimate Sport Show on Wednesday morning.

George Afriyie is a veteran football administrator who has seen it all from clubs to national teams. He is known for constantly sharing his ideas on the current state of Ghana Football having made it clear that Kurt Okraku’s leadership is not up to the standard.

His assertion that no club can provide security across the various football venues in the country will definitely divide opinions.

In as much as it is the duty of the Ghana Football Association to ensure that a proper security is provided at every league center, it is also the duty of the clubs to also do the same.

Any club that doesn’t have the power to provide security should not qualify to even exists in the country.

Nsoatreman’s killing of Pooley was a result of a very horrible security presence at the Nana Konamansah Park on Sunday in week 19 of the GPL.

The home team promised to provide not less than 120 policemen to protect everyone at the venue but Kotoko reported that there were only 26 policemen during the matchday.

The club’s have the same responsibility just like the Ghana Football Association to ensure tight security during matchdays.

George Afriyie knows all that it takes to guarantee a success in football administration and his ideas are very valubale but his believe that no club can provide proper security at stadiums is debatable.
