Kennedy Ohene Agyapong, a presidential hopeful for the New Patriotic Party (NPP), has expressed his sincere sympathies to the families who lost their children in the stampede at Elwak Sports Stadium, stating that it is extremely upsetting to lose young people who were merely looking for employment.
Additionally, Mr. Agyapong asked for prayers for the patients undergoing hospital care to recover quickly.
He said in a Facebook post that this tragedy served as a sobering reminder of the pressing need to change Ghana’s economy for a number of reasons. He stated that a system of dignity and hope for the youth must be established, along with sustainable jobs.

I am deeply saddened by the tragic loss of lives at the El Wak Sports Stadium, where young Ghanaians seeking enlistment into the military lost their lives in a stampede. My heartfelt condolences go to the families of the deceased and those injured. No parent should ever have to bury a child who only sought an honest opportunity to serve their country.
