Zambia has snatched Nora Huptle away from Ghana after the Swiss tactician failed to reach an agreement with the Ghana Football Association to continue her role as the boss of the Black Queens.
Nora Huptle, 41, turned a contract renewal offer from the Ghana Football Association after deeming it not good enough. She was appointed the head coach of the Black Queens in January 2023 after serving as Technical Advisor to Ghana’s Women’s U-20.
Why has she left Ghana?
WAFCON 2024 is just six months to kickoff but the Swiss-born coach has kissed Ghana goodbye.
The reasons are that, firstly, the Ghana Football Association failed to pay $40k for Tunisia and Senegal friendlies in November’s women’s international break.
Secondly, the Ghana Football Association are willing to pay her $12k per month salary as they proposed $6k.
Multiple sources also say that she is not happy with how women’s football is run in the country as all the attention is given to the men’s especially the Black Stars.
What’s next for Ghana?
The GFA quickly must find a replacement for the departing Nora as the Black Queens must prepare so well to continue their fine form ahead of Morocco 2025. It remains unknown who will succeed Nora Huptle. The Ghana Football Association is yet to officially release a statement about the Blac Quenns’ head coach’s departure.
Why has Nora Huptle chosen Zambia?
Truly, the Copper Queens are ahead of Ghana as they have played in the last FIFA Women’s World Cup and the Olympic Games making them an attractive option. Zambia are ready to satisfy Nora Huptle’s financial demands and it’s the main reason why she has decided to sign for the Copper Queens.
She has signed a two-year contract with Zambia. Nora Huptle is tasked to finish in the last four of the 2024 WAFCON.
