A 24-year-old thief identified simply as Samson, has been apprehended by community watch volunteers in Damongo, the capital of the Savannah Region, after breaking into a provision store and stealing toffees.
According to the community watch team, Samson has been involved in several break-ins across the area, targeting shops and homes.
They had been monitoring his activities for some time, and he was finally caught after entering a store through the ceiling.
Speaking in Gonja, Samson admitted to the theft but claimed he was not acting alone, stating that his accomplice had fled the scene.
He also mentioned that he only stole toffees as he couldn’t find what he was originally looking for.
Samson has since been handed over to the Damongo police for further investigation and possible prosecution.
