Members of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) will take to the streets of Accra today, Tuesday, September 23, 2025, to protest what they describe as the “misapplication of justice” under the John Mahama-led administration.

The party has accused the government of using state power to politically target former officials and supporters through what they claim are politically motivated prosecutions.

NPP’s National Youth Organiser, Salam Mustapha, confirmed the protest, stating that all necessary arrangements with the police had been completed.

“According to the Public Order Act, we were to give the police a five-day notification. So that is enough time for both of us to prepare. They also invited us to agree on the roads we were going to take and all the details they needed. So, everything as of now is in place,” he said.

The demonstration follows a series of arrests involving high-profile NPP figures. Recently, Ashanti Regional Chairman Bernard Antwi Boasiako, also known as Chairman Wontumi, was detained by the Economic and Organised Crime Office (EOCO), and another regional chairman, Kwame Baffoe (Abronye DC), was also taken into police custody.

The NPP claims that several other members and supporters have been arrested as part of investigations they believe are politically motivated.

Today’s protest is aimed at condemning what the NPP calls the government’s “selective application of justice,” with party officials demanding equal and fair treatment for opposition figures in legal proceedings.
