The battle for this year’s general elections has begun earnestly for Nana Obiri Boahen, a staunch supporter of Vice President Dr. Mahamadu Bawumia, and the presidential candidate for the New Patriotic Party (NPP).
The leading member of the party has solely hit the ground running visiting chiefs and opinion leaders in the Upper West Region, ostensible Dr. Bawumia becomes the next leader of the country.
”I remember saying to myself, Doc, should come after Nana Akufo-Addo’. So I started my Mamprusi train agenda and drummed it until this time.”, he revealed.
The outspoken private legal practitioner took his campaign to visit the elders of the party such as the family members of the late S.D. Dombo, late Bin Silah to rally political support for Dr. Bawumia, the presidential candidate for the NPP in the upcoming polls.
At a mini rally in Wa with the family members of the late S.D. Dombo, a former Minister of State under the Busia regime, Nana Obiri Boahen explained to the people reasons to support Dr. Bawumia to win the December 7 polls at all cost.
“I came here alone, nobody has sent, Dr. Bawumia himself doesn’t know where I am currently. If I say something bad, I own it, and it’s bad, the party can adopt it. I am fuelling my vehicle, and paying for the hotel accommodation of my secretary and driver. Though I am here, I have not gone to the Regional Minister, MP, MCE, or any party executive for support
“I am doing these things because of the love I have for Bawumia and NPP’, Nana Obiri engaged family members of late S.D. Dombo and later proceeded with his trip to the family of the late Bin Silah in the Wa Central Constituency.
Nana Obiri Boahen presented a bottle of schnapps to the traditional homes as customary rites.
Nana Obiri Boahen who spent two days in the region, on the next day visited the paramount chief of Lawra and told Naa Puowele Karbo IV, late Abayifa Karbo tomb, Lawyer Dyakah at the Lambussie Palace and B. K Adam’s tomb before visiting the tomb of the late Ama Busia at Wenchi.
He also visited and interacted with NPP Constituency executives and electoral coordinators in Lumbushie, Bole-Bamboi, Nadowli Kaleo, and many places in the Upper West Region.
The people were elated and called for a similar visit from other senior members of the party.
