Olympic Games: Who are Ghana’s 8 Athletes?

It will be the first time since Ghana made its debut in Helsinki in the 1952 Olympic Games that Ghana will submit a very few athletes. Ghana sent 7 athletes in the 1952 Olympic Games and it is the fewer ever in the history of Ghana’s 15 appearances at the Olympic Games.

Paris 2024 will be Ghana’s 16th appearance at the Olympic Games and eight athletes are set to represent the nation.

Ghana will compete in the 4 X 100 meters Relay, High Jump and Swimming.

4 X 100m Relay Team

Ghana’s team consists of Joseph Paul Amoah, Benjamin Azamati, Isaac Botsio, and Fuseini Ibrahim, with Abdul-Rasheed Saminu as backup. There’s enough confidence in the team as many Ghanians believe they can do the unthinkable.

Ghana’s relay team secured their Olympic slot with an incredible qualification time of 38.29 seconds at the World Relays in the Bahamas earlier this year.

High Jump

Rose Amoaniwaa Yeboah, 22, former student o f Kumasi Girls Senior High School, now schooling at the University of Illinois is set to be Ghana’s first female high jumper at the Olympics. The talented youngster is determined to make Ghana proud.

Swimming

Harry Stacey and Joselle Mensah are set to represent Ghana in Swimming. The two were awarded the slots by World Aquatic due to the incredible performances they put up during the 13th All-African Games in Accra.

The duo are the best ranked Ghanaian swimmers currently as Harry Stacey is the best male swimmer while Joselle Mensah is the best female swimmer.
