Nigeria 3-2 Tunisia

Nigeria and Tunisia locked horns at the Complex sportif de Fes, with the Super Eagles winning 3-2 to qualify for the knockout stage.

Victor Osimhen’s opener on the stroke of half-time put the Nigerians ahead. Ndidi doubled Nigeria’s lead five minutes into the second half. Lookman, in the 67th minute, made it 3-0 with a composed finish.

It was disastrous for Tunisia at this point as they had no antidote to Nigeria’s all-out attacking approach.

The North African,s through Montassar Talbi’s powerful header, pulled one back in the 70th minute. After VAR’s intervention, Tunisia was awarded a penalty in the 87th minute with Ali Abdi stepping up to score to ensure a tense final few minutes.

Nigeria protected their slim lead and won 3-2.

Uganda 1-1 Tunisia

In the other game of the group, the East Africa derby did not fail to impress as it was laden with drama. With a whole lot at stake, none of the teams was ready for any defeat as it could have ended their slim dream of progressing to the group stage.

After a feisty goalless draw in the first half in Rabat, Uganda went down to Simon Msuva’s 59th minute penalty.

Ikpeazu’s fantastic header on the 80th minute from Omedi’s pinpoint accurate cross levelled the scores for Uganda. The drama got intense as Uganda was awarded a penalty. Up step Vipers’ Okello Allan , the forward fluffed his line much to the dissapointment of the Ugandan entourage as the game ended 1-1.

East Africa celebrated the beautiful game Uganad a and Tanzania sold.
