Nigeria Football Club, Heartland Football Club vehicle, was involved in a horrific accident on Friday.
Players and officials from the club were traveling to Abakaliki for the Ifeanyi Ekwueme TICO/SELECT Pre-season Tournament when the accident happened in Umunna, close to Okigwe, Imo State.
It was learned that several Heartland FC players and officials suffered varying degrees of injuries.
Before long, they were attending a nearby facility for first-aid treatment.
The incident was verified by the former Nigeria Professional Football League, or NPFL, team in a statement.
According to the statement, “The accident happened at Umunna close to Okigwe still within Imo State.”
“Another carelessly parked vehicle from another accident collided with the vehicle in its attempt to avoid an approaching vehicle.”
