The Accra Regional Police Command has launched an investigation into a viral video circulating on social media, in which an unidentified man is seen obstructing police officers in the line of duty and issuing threats against the Ghana Police Service.

According to a statement issued by the Head of the Regional Public Affairs Unit, Superintendent Juliana Obeng, the Police Command has taken serious notice of the video, which captures the suspect interfering with police officers during what appears to be a lawful operation.

A separate video reportedly shows the same individual issuing direct threats against the Police Service—acts that the command describes as both criminal and a threat to public order.

The incident, which has sparked widespread reaction online, is being treated with the utmost urgency.

Police say such actions are not only an affront to the rule of law but also embolden disorderly conduct that undermines peace and security.

“These actions not only constitute offences under Ghanaian law but also undermine the authority of the Police and pose a threat to public order,” the statement emphasized.

While the identity of the man involved is yet to be officially confirmed, the police have begun efforts to track and arrest him.

Authorities are also calling on the suspect to voluntarily report to the nearest police station to assist with ongoing investigations.

Superintendent Obeng reminded the public that obstructing law enforcement officers in the execution of their duties and threatening public officials are both punishable under Ghanaian law.

She further urged citizens to use lawful channels to express concerns or seek redress rather than resort to acts of provocation or defiance.

“We urge the individual involved to report to the nearest Police Station to assist in investigations,” the statement read.

The Police Command also appealed to the general public for assistance in locating the suspect and encouraged anyone with relevant information to contact the Police through emergency lines 18555 or 112.
