The Legal Affairs Correspondent for the EIB Network, Murtala Inusah has been attacked by supporters of Bishop Salifu Amoako at the High Court in Accra.

The supporters of Bishop Elisha Salifu Amoako and Mouha Amoako, parents of 16-year-old son (the teen allegedly responsible for a tragic crash on Saturday 12th October 2024) confronted members of the media during a court session. Murtala Inusah, who was present at the court to cover the trial session was attacked by the supporters of Prophet Salifu Amoako.

The attack led to multiple cuts on his wrist. The award-winning court reporter who attempted to film the embattled prophet has also lost his mobile phone due to the incident. Salifu Amoako and Mouha Amoako who are parents of the suspect driver were arrested by the police on Tuesday and put before the court on Wednesday, October 16.

The group affiliated with Alive Chapel International, expressed their frustration and protested against the overseer’s arrest, citing the incident as spiritually influenced rather than merely physical. Their anger led to the attacks on media persons who filmed the session, leading to unexpected clashes.

The police, in a statement, confirmed the arrests of Bishop Elisha Salifu Amoako and his wife, Mouha Amoako, on Tuesday, October 15. The charges relate to the actions of their son, who, while driving a Jaguar SUV (GN 7801-20), collided with a 4×4 Acura vehicle (GR 2542-23) driven by Joseph Ackah. The crash resulted in the deaths of two individuals and left others critically injured.

Meanwhile, the prophet and his wife have been granted a GHS50,000 bail each after pleading not guilty.
