Former Energy Minister and senior New Patriotic Party (NPP) figure, Boakye Kyeremateng Agyarko, has embarked on a humanitarian and party outreach initiative, donating food items and relief supplies to Muslim communities and party structures ahead of the holy month of Ramadan, while also reinforcing political engagement in the strategically important Nima-Ayawaso East Constituency.
On Tuesday, Boakye Agyarko, he visited the headquarters of the New Patriotic Party to donate bags of rice, sugar, and boxes of disposable cups through the party’s National Nasara Coordinator.
The donation was specifically targeted at Muslim members and communities within the party structure as part of preparations for the Ramadan fast (sawm), a period of spiritual reflection, discipline, and communal solidarity in Islam.
Boakye Agyarko explained that his action was inspired by Islamic teachings, referencing Hadith traditions which emphasize that even those who may not be able to fulfill obligations such as Fidya can still attain spiritual reward through acts of service and community support during Ramadan.

He described the gesture as both a religiously inspired humanitarian act and a demonstration of solidarity with Muslim communities within the party’s grassroots base.
Beyond the national headquarters, Boakye Agyarko also extended the same gesture to the NPP office in the Nima-Ayawaso East Constituency, a politically sensitive area with a strong Muslim population and a history of competitive elections.
The visit comes at a crucial time as the constituency prepares for an upcoming by-election, making the intervention both socially significant and politically strategic.
During the visit, Boakye Agyarko met party executives and activists and assessed preparations on the ground.
He expressed confidence in the readiness of the party’s parliamentary candidate, Baba Ali, noting what he described as “unflinching support” from constituency executives and the wider party structure.

He praised the level of organization, coordination, and unity within the local party, describing it as a strong foundation for the by-election campaign.
The outreach reflects a broader pattern in Boakye Agyarko’s political career, where he has combined party activism with community engagement. A long-standing member of the NPP, he first rose to national prominence during the party’s 2007 presidential primaries and later served as campaign manager for the 2012 elections.
In 2017, under President Nana Akufo-Addo, he was appointed Minister for Energy, a role that further cemented his status as a key figure in the party’s national leadership structure.
In recent months, Boakye Agyarko has increasingly positioned himself as a unifying figure within the party, engaging grassroots members, religious communities, and constituency structures at a time when the NPP is rebuilding after electoral setbacks and internal contestations.
