The victims, Evelyn Serwaa Konadu and Anastasia Baidoo, arrived in Ghana on the morning of Friday, May 9, 2025, and were received by officials of the Ghana Police Service at the Kotoka International Airport.
This follows a collaborative cross-border operation between the Ghana Police Service, the Nigeria Police Force, and Ghana’s National Signals Bureau.
The operation culminated in the rescue of the two women earlier in the week and was publicly announced at a press briefing on Tuesday, May 6, 2025.
During a press conference held at the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) Headquarters in Accra, police authorities confirmed that both women are in stable condition and will be given comprehensive medical care and psychological support.
Afterwards, they are expected to assist investigators by providing detailed accounts of their ordeal to aid ongoing investigations.
“This successful operation underscores our unwavering commitment to crime prevention, detection, apprehension, and prosecution,” a senior CID official stated.
He reiterated the police administration’s dedication to safeguarding the security and well-being of every Ghanaian.
The police also used the opportunity to raise alarm over a growing trend of online-related crimes, particularly romance scams and internet fraud.
