Former Black Stars defender Sam Johnson has advised Greek side PAOK’s left-back Abdul Baba Rahman not to play for Ghana again.

Baba Rahman was booed at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium when Ghana faced the Central African Republic on 7th September 2023 in the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers in Kumasi where the Black Stars triumphed 2-1.

Baba Rahman was booed anytime he touched the ball. It was so annoying and sad as it broke him down. Since then, the red-hot defender has always declined the opportunity to play for Ghana.

Sam Johnson has expressed his disappointment in Baba’s situation and has made it clear to him to avoid the national team.

“If I were him [Baba Rahman], I wouldn’t come because he has suffered a lot from Ghanaians, including some of us. Because it does not go well for him when he comes, and we don’t see the Baba Rahman that we used to know, and he has received a lot of criticism from Ghanaians.

“If I were to be him, I don’t care whether I’m playing like Leonel Messi or Cristiano Ronaldo, I won’t come. That decision is up to him, but if I were to be him in this position or his position, I wouldn’t come. I’m done with the national team,” Sam Johnson said.

Baba Rahman has hit top form playing for the Greek champions since joining them last season with many Ghanaians still wishing he was part of the struggling Black Stars.
