The Ghana Police Service has issued a press statement debunking rumours that broadcaster Serwaa Amihere has been arrested.

On Tuesday, October 15, 2024, rumours about Serwaa Amihere’s alleged arrest for unclear reasons surfaced online, sparking reactions on social media.

A photo of Serwaa Amihere casually dressed and in handcuffs, being escorted by two armed police officers, circulated online, leading netizens to wonder what had led to her arrest.

While some individuals sought more information, others speculated that it could be a publicity stunt or that the photo was from a music video shoot.

Amid the confusion, the police released a statement clarifying that there was no truth to the rumours regarding the GHOne journalist’s arrest.

According to their statement, the circulating picture is from a music video shoot.

“The Ghana Police Service has not arrested Serwaa Amihere. Our investigation indicates that the picture circulating online is from a music video.

“We therefore urge the public to disregard this misinformation and disinformation,” their statement read.

They also shared a post from blogger Nkonkonsa, who first circulated the news of Serwaa Amihere’s arrest, while refuting the claims.
