Seychelles President-elect Patrick Herminie has extended a formal invitation to Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, the Asantehene, to attend his presidential inauguration on October 26, 2025, in Victoria, Seychelles.
The invitation was officially communicated through the Seychelles Consulate in Ghana and shared publicly via Opemsuo Radio and other media outlets.
Patrick Herminie, who recently won the presidency after defeating incumbent Wavel Ramkalawan in a run-off election, emphasised the symbolic importance of Otumfuo’s presence at the ceremony.
The Asantehene’s reputation as a global advocate for peace, culture, and development makes him a distinguished guest for the occasion, which marks a new chapter in Seychelles’ democratic journey.
According to reports, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II has graciously accepted the invitation and will travel to Seychelles with a delegation from the Manhyia Palace.
His participation is expected to strengthen cultural ties between Ghana and Seychelles, especially given the historical and diplomatic connections that have grown between the two nations.
The President-elect highlighted the shared values of tradition, leadership, and unity that both the Asante Kingdom and Seychelles hold dear.
In keeping with Asante customs, Otumfuo sought the consent of the Asanteman Council before confirming his attendance.
His visit to Seychelles follows another international invitation from Suriname’s President Jennifer Simons, who has asked the Asantehene to grace the country’s Independence Day celebration in November.
These invitations reflect Otumfuo’s rising stature as a cultural statesman whose influence extends beyond Ghana’s borders.
