Abedi Pele, Solar Ayew, Andre Ayew, Jordan Ayew, and Rahim Ayew are from the same family and have all played for the Black Stars.

It is an incredible achievement for the Ayews as they have been consistently part of Ghana’s national team since the late 70s.

Otto Addo on Wednesday named Ghana’s team to face Mali and the Central African Republic in June’s FIFA World Cup qualifiers. The biggest omission of the squad was the exclusion of the skipper Andre Ayew to the surprise of many.

Solar Ayew, the legendary Abedi Pele’s sibling has expressed his view on the exclusion of his nephew, Andre Ayew, by Otto Addo.

“The Black Stars captaincy is not for the Ayew family, it’s for Ghana. We can lose the captaincy but we are still having the football in our family. The captaincy is not ours but the football is there. You can take everything from us but you cannot take away the football. We have young ones coming so we are not worried at all,” said Solar in an interview on Asempa FM.

Solar Ayew’s comments carry some anger and disappointment about the exclusion of Dede Ayew.

He informed Ghanaians that there are more of the Ayews to come so Ghanaians must watch out.

Ghana will travel to Mali and host the Central African Republic in Matchday 3 and 4 of the qualifiers.
