The Ghana Paralympic Team were supposed to partake in the Fjordkraft Bergen City Marathon in Oslo on April 27, 2024 but refused. The 11-member ‘paralympic’ team from Ghana surprisingly flee their camp and 9 are nowhere to be found. One is dead and one has been arrested, per reports.
The Sports Ministry has surprisingly revealed that they are not aware of the Ghana Paralympic Team’s participation of any competition in Norway.
In a statement released, the Ministry expressed its dissapointment in the issue. “It is important to note that while this incident is unfortunate, it does not define the dedication and integrity of the entire sports fraternity,” the statement said.
“Our athletes and officials have consistently showcased remarkable discipline and commitment to sporting excellence, bringing pride and joy to our nation at several international competitions,” the Ministry praised Ghanaian athletes.
“[Sports Ministry was] unaware of the participation of the Paralympic team in the Marathon,” added the Ministry. The Sports Ministry’s revelation shows how poor the country is in terms of keeping records.
It is quiet unbelievable to see Ghanaian athletes all the way in Norway with the Sports Ministry saying that it is not aware of where they are.
