The 2024-25 Ghana Premier League has been broadcast by so many TV stations, including AFA Sports, Net2TV, Original TV and Metro TV.
The coverage has not been anywhere closer to the one StarTimes was delivering. Nana Oduro Sarfo, a member of the GFA Executive Council, has confirmed the broadcasters’ return starting in February 2025.
“The last time I spoke about StarTimes was four weeks ago. StarTimes will come in February. The GFA doesn’t have any contract with a media house at the moment. Since we had no TV rights and our matches were not going public, we decided to engage certain companies to handle it for a specific time and even put it on our GFA app. But that is now gone,” Sarfo stated.
“If by February, StarTimes comes on board, everything ceases, and nobody will have access to the rights anymore. They will take over completely,” Oduro Sarfo said in an interview on Guide FM.
The second round of the Ghana Premier League began last week across the length and breadth of the country. The exact day StarTimes will start their broadcasting was not disclosed.
StarTimes was the main broadcaster of the Ghana Premier League and the MTN FA Cup for more than five years but brought to an end their marriage with the GFA after failing to reach an agreement to continue their coverage.
