Asante Kotoko, according to the IFFHS, was the club of the century in Africa from (1901-2000). The club was the best on the African continent, especially in the 1970s, 1980s and the early 1990s. The Porcupine Warriors were constant in the CAF Champions League winning two titles (1970 and 1983) and losing five (1967, 1971, 1973, 1982 and 1993).

The club has lost its magic, and they are nowhere to be found on the African big stage. They still have admirers outside Ghana.

Ramadan Agab Sharif, the skipper for Sudan, has revealed his burning desire before he tires from football.

The 35-year-old Al Merrikh right midfielder has disclosed his wish to play for Kotoko before he retires because Asante Kotoko is so huge a football club.

In a private conversation with former Hearts of Oak goalkeeper trainer, Eric Amponsah, who is now part of Kwesi Appiah’s technical staff of the Sudan national team.
Eric Amponsah revealed what Agab told him in an interview on Kessben FM in Kumasi.

“Agab said he has to play for Kotoko because Kotoko is huge. It is not always about the money but the name”, Eric said exactly what Agab told him.

Ramadan Agab is a very versatile player who in his career, has played as a right midfielder, right back, centre forward and all the other positions except centre-back and goalkeeping roles.

He has won 54 caps and scored 7 goals for the Sudanese national team.
